Hospital Price Transparency Final Rule Summary Of The Final Rule
In addition to posting standard charges for all items and services on its website, all U.S. hospitals must now display four additional types of charge data and must do so for all locations under the hospital’s tax ID number, and for all “employed” physicians and non-physician practitioners. CMS specifies particular data points that must be included in the hospitals’ charge files and explains requirements for two separate types of charge data posting: all individual items and services the hospital provides and 300 shoppable services. CMS creates an enforcement procedure that includes civil monetary penalties for hospitals violating any of the new regulations’ requirements.
