Introduction:

The Kansas University Cancer Center is seeking Data Coordinators to enter patient files into the Biospecimen Repository Core Facility (BRCF) databases for record keeping. This includes patient demographics, sample inventory forms, pathology reports and health history questionnaires. Will be responsible for maintaining BRCF filing systems and databases.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for entering patient files into the Biospecimen Repository Core Facility (BRCF) databases for record keeping. This includes patient demographics, sample collection forms, pathology reports and health history questionnaires.
  • Responsible for completion and maintenance of training in Human Subject Protection, HIPAA, and the informed consent process. Responsible for following all Human Subject Committee requirements and recommendations.
  • Prepare new files for entry. Maintain the filing system effectively with little or no misplacement errors.
  • Interpret patient clinical data for research data input.
  • Audit assigned files and health history questionnaires. Complete all clerical data entry associated with each case or as assigned.
  • Maintain BRCF databases as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent education and experience may substitute for degree.
  • Must possess knowledge to effectively use computers and database. This position will involve repetitive entry of patient files; therefore, the candidate must be comfortable with routine tasks.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail when preparing, entering and auditing patient files; additionally must be able to maintain the filing system and able to keep documents in order.
  • The candidate must be able to complete all tasks assigned with efficiency and therefore must possess superb time management skills, be well-organized and highly motivated.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and Oncology experience preferred.
